AFL-CIO Names Julie Greene to Lead Labor Campaign Efforts

Experienced campaign operative to lead national and political engagement

(Washington, D.C., Thursday, January 11) — The AFL-CIO announced today that starting Feb. 1, Julie Greene will head its Mobilization Hub, which leads the federation’s grassroots operation, including engaging state and local bodies in campaigns to support political candidates that stand with working people at all levels of government. She also will work directly with the labor federation’s affiliated unions to coordinate and support their campaign efforts as well as member engagement.

“We are excited to have Julie at the forefront of our campaign efforts to win for working families,” said AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka. “Her valuable experience and expertise will lead our efforts to support political candidates who stand for good jobs, raising wages and the freedom to join together to negotiate for a fair return on their work.”

Greene’s background is deeply rooted in the labor movement and efforts fighting for issues important to empowering working people. She previously worked at the AFL-CIO for seven years, most recently as deputy political director. Since 2014, Greene has served as both director of the Office of the Secretary at the Democratic National Committee, where she helped to execute large-scale events such as the Democratic National Convention, and as director of the Office of Democratic National Committee Leadership.

“You never truly leave, but I am pleased be back in the House of Labor and help lead the effort to restore working families’ freedom to stand together and hold political leaders accountable,” Greene said. “At a time when working people are under attack by special interests and corporations, we are ready to stand and fight back for what is fair.”
