Statement by AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka on 40,000 working people at AT&T going on strike:
The tens of thousands of AT&T workers out on strike have the full and unwavering support of the 12.5 million members of the AFL-CIO. Together with our friends, family, and entire community, we will win the fairness and freedoms workers earn every day.
Striking is a final resort no one wants to endure, but necessary when corporations are rigging the rules against working families. After months at the bargaining table, AT&T bosses seem dead set on lining their own pockets at the expense of workers who make the company billions. In the end, AT&T workers will win a fair return on their work and we will all be stronger because of it.
