Statement by AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka on the 6th anniversary of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act:
The passage of Dodd-Frank marked a major victory in the efforts to rein in the riskiest Wall Street behavior that led to the financial crisis. The legislation exemplifies how we write economic rules that work for working people. But instead of full implementation and building on its success, too much of Dodd-Frank has been stalled at every turn, allowing greedy Wall Street bankers and hedge funds to continue to gamble with the lives of working people. Six years is too long to wait for full implementation. Working people will continue to stand together and fight to restructure Wall Street so we can finance the real economy instead of gambling with it.
